Saw your post at Belmont, re. the need for a 'grand strategy' similar to containment. A fellow named Thomas Barnett is advancing one. He worked at the Naval Institute in Rhode Island but is independent now. He has a book out called "The Pentagon's New Map" and has a sequel due in Fall called "Blueprint for Action."

I think his 'grand strategy' slightly off, but it's mostly "on", and is getting a lot of attention from Pentagon brass.
